About

Customising a Versaterm keyboard is a two step process.  The keyboard must first be defined in Utilities and then downloaded to the Versaterm(s) using the Communication Server.

Procedure - Create a Keyboard

  1. From the Sysnet Toolbar click on the Utilities icon
  2. Click on the <KEYBOARDS> tab and (+) to add a new keyboard
  3. Enter a NAME for the keyboard and choose the LOCATION it belongs to
  4. Select the KEYBOARD TYPE as Versaterm from the dropdown box and tick to save
  5. The KEYBOARD ID will be automatically generated upon saving the keyboard
  6. Enable KEY SECURITY on the keyboard if required
  7. Double click on the KEYBOARD NAME to open it

Procedure - Configure Keys

  1. Double click on a key to edit it
  2. Choose a KEY TYPE from the dropdown list - Fast PLU, Group Search or Function Key
  3. Enter the PLU Number or PLU Group into the KEY DATA field or use the dropdown list to search
  4. Write the CAPTION to display on the printed layout

  5. Choose a FONT NAME, SIZE, COLOUR and BACKGROUND COLOUR

  6. Select KEY SECURITY if required and select the desired level of access for the key

  7. If this key is a BASE KEY, enable this option.  The key will automatically 'lock' the data in place.  This prevents the key from being edited until it is 'unlocked' and is most commonly used for function keys rather than Fast PLU's or Group Search keys

  8. The cut/copy and paste functions can also be used to move or copy details between keys and between each Versaterm keyboard layout.  These can be accessed via a right click  or using the icons at the top of the screen

  9. Use the <TOP> button (bottom left side of the keyboard) to move to the bottom level of the keyboard as required.  This will allow for items to be programmed on the top and bottom level of the various keys as required.  This button will show as <BOTTOM> when the user is accessing the bottom level

  10. Click on <SAVE> before exiting the keyboard

  11. Enable the "Show Descriptions" check box to see the PLU descriptions on the keyboard rather than the PLU number and "Print in Colour" if colour coding is in use

  12. Use the <PRINT> button to preview the keyboard layout

  13. Click on <CLOSE> to exit the keyboard and perform a DOWNLOAD to each Versaterm using the Communication Server
