Free Text Key

About

The Free Text key is used as a blank PLU allowing the user to enter a description of the item being sold. This is generally used when a PLU doesn't exist for an item. The Free Text PLU can be configured in two ways:

No Modifier

Can be used as a miscellaneous key when set as a "No Modifier" PLU with OPEN PRICE ITEM enabled.

When the <FREE TEXT> key is pressed the operator will be prompted to enter a description (30 characters max)
After pressing OK another window will appear to enter the required price of the item.
Pressing <OK> again will add this item to the Current Sale window.

The receipt will print with the specified details but stock will not decrement for free text items.

Normal Modifier

When configured as a "Normal Modifier" the free text PLU can be used for meals and coffee orders to add instructions that will modify the order as required. This will then be printed to the order printers to alert staff accordingly.

Select the desired meal or drink followed by the <FREE TEXT> key
The operator will be prompted to enter a description (30 characters max) and press <OK>
This item will be added to the Current Sale window under the original item
The item will appear on order dockets in smaller font underneath the main item
