There are a number of different modifier types which are used when creating PLU's for different functions in Sysnet. The most commonly used modifiers are Normal, Group and Order Number modifier types for use with food and beverage orders and docket printing. The following is a list of the different modifier types and their purpose.
Modifier Type |
What it does |
No Modifier |
Used for all normal selling PLU's, for example 6 Pack of Carlton Cold or Giesen Sauvignon Blanc are set as No Modifiers |
Normal Modifier |
A normal modifier is a PLU used to modify a customer order in some way. They are generally used as instructions for the kitchen or bar to modify an item in some way. Some common examples of normal modifiers are Cooking Styles such as Rare, Medium Rare, Medium etc. Other examples include sauces, instructions such as 'no sauce' or 'no anchovies' and so on. A normal modifier will be automatically attached the No Modifier PLU rung up before it. This type of modifier should not be assigned to a print group. |
Group Modifier |
These PLU's are generally named "As Entree" and "As Main" and are used to change the section that items will print under on the order docket. For example if a customer chooses an entree size dish to be served at main course time, the operator will ring up the entree then press the "As Main" Group modifier to ensure it prints under the Mains heading on the order docket |
Position Modifier |
This option allows the operator to allocate the customer's seat or position to an order. The position number will print beside the item on the order docket. Note that this feature is not required for use with Exceed as this feature is built into the software using the Position key. |
Printer Change Modifier |
This modifier allows the operator to change where the order prints. |
Order Number Modifier |
This type of modifier is a PLU which can be used to assign an order number (e.g. stick number) to an order which will print on the top of the docket. This is commonly used in a bar scenario where food is ordered and must be printed without the need to use the tables function. |
Reason Code |
Reason Code modifiers are assigned to PLU's which provide a description (or reason) for an item being wasted or refunded at the POS. Common examples are broken/damaged, wrong pour, corked, customer complaint. The use of reason codes will allow more detailed tracking using the Wastage reports in Sysnet. |
Member Fees |
This option allows the venue to create one or more PLU's for member fees in the venue. When linked to this modifier type, any member fees paid at the POS which are attributed to a member will update the fee payment against the member in Sysnet. This will also update the expiry date according to the criteria set against the Membership Type. |
Ticket Modifier |
Used in conjunction with the Tickets feature, this modifier is used to set the validity criteria for the ticket. |
Package |
Used in conjunction with the Packages feature, this modifier type will be automatically selected upon creating a PLU from an Inventory Code set to the stock type of "Package". It cannot be altered from this screen. |
Timer |
This modifier is used in conjunction with the Countdown Timers feature. Please consult your H&L Representative for more information on using this feature. |
